WEBCON BPS 2019 is our first product that can operate without SharePoint in what we call a Standalone version. In the year 2019 the Standalone version was gradually improved with mechanisms emulating/replacing functionalities of the full installation – especially those regarding the operations of the SharePoint form. Our Changelog presents these changes as they happened version-by-version.
For example WEBCON BPS 2019 introduced a mechanism which can substitute SharePoint Groups and allows for an easier management and user privilege allocation in the system.
In order to create/edit/delete local groups, log in to WEBCON BPS Portal, choose you accounts’ icon which is located in the upper-right corner of the screen and select “Administration” from the drop down.
On the next page select “Users management” and then “Local groups” which will appear underneath it.
Select “Local groups” to open a new website with all the tools needed to manage the Local groups.
Buttons to add a group and refresh their list below are located on the top bar.
The list is divided into two columns: Display name and Group identifier, both of which can be used to sort in ascending or descending order. To edit a group, hover the mouse over its verse and choose the icon with three dots. It opens a menu with group details and a button to delete it.
Group details are presented on the right side of the screen and display group BPS ID, name and its members. You can also find there options to delete the group, edit its name or view its members. Any external users, users from AD/AAD or those from BPS groups can become local group members.
In order to create a local group choose “+Add” from the top bar and then create a BPS ID (if the characters provided are not allowed, it won’t be possible to save) for example group1@webcon.pl and provide its name. You can also immediately add members to the group by providing their username and checking it with a button on the right side of the screen or choose the next button and search for them.
After adding the members choose “Save” and the created group will be added to WEBCON BPS Portal and will await for synchronization. Until it happens, the hourglass symbol will be displayed on the left side of the group. It will also appear (with a “deleted” notification) when the group is deleted. It happens when the add/delete action was performed correctly but the synchronization haven’t been done yet.
Groups can be used for example in order to provide privileges in an application.
