According to Microsoft’s official announcement, support for Legacy Client Authentication (Basic authentication) within the SharePoint Online service will be discontinued by May 1, 2026. This change will affect WEBCON platform users who currently rely on this mechanism to authenticate connections to SharePoint Online.
In response to this change, work is underway on an update to the WEBCON platform that will introduce a new authentication model recommended by Microsoft, based on application registration in Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and OAuth 2.0 bearer tokens. The scope of the changes includes the integration layer responsible for communication with SharePoint Online, in order to maintain compatibility with existing actions, such as file uploads and attachment handling, without requiring any changes to the business logic on the process side.
NOTE: This update will be available only for supported WEBCON platform versions 2025 and 2026.
