I also noticed this field in the last days, but I have no idea, how it is utilized.

The database documentation doesn't contain much information either:

Is DataAttachmet secret

I would assume that this is for internal usage only.

Mihai, my sources say this column is not currently used by the system itself. However, it may be still in use for a number of historical custom plugins.
