Hello Michal,

You can use the WEBCON installer to start the service again. By using the "Tools for application management" and then selecting the Service Status Option where you can trigger a service start.
The whole license server thing seems a bit misleading (it's more of a symptom of the general issue), as it's usually the workflow service which needs your attention. And can be started by the described method.

We've got the same problem on version 2023. As we found out, it should be solved with version 2025, on which we're upgrading now. What version do You have?
Regarding to service, it's called "Webcon WorkFlow Service" - restarting only this service should help.

I have the same problem/error. All the time :[
In 2025.1 and now 2026.1 (88)
Service is activated, license active (can refresh and download without any problem)
Restarting services (all) doesnt help at all
Logs doesnt tell me anything ...
No firewall rules (disabled for checks). One server with mssql, iis, webcon, search.

Is it a new policy from webcon to get paid license?

Today updated to 2026 build (91) nothing changed...

I'm ready to abandon all plans and projects related to the WebCon platform; this environment has been giving me such a hard time lately. If it were a production environment, I probably wouldn't even wait.

I've scoured the internet for general opinions about WebCon and I'm truly surprised that there's so little information and opinions on independent, objective websites about this platform. This is truly strange, and I'm concerned that this might be due to marketing and the company's ongoing image protection.

If I can't address the licensing issue by the end of the month, I'll give up not only on WebCon but also on all other low-code platforms and share my 10 years of experience working with them. They have their advantages, but I currently see more disadvantages.

you are probably aware that the adding a reply to an existing thread doesn't move the thread up. It will only be visible, if someone clicks on "Latest answers".

I can't tell you anything about the error, but I hope you have a backup of the 2025 version.

I recently learned, that the freemium/express version has been discontinued and was replaced with a 30/90 day trial as of 2026.

You mentioned that you did have a 2025 version and you joined the forum 4 years ago therefore you installation very likely hit this limit. Which may be the reason for the error or not. Even if this isn't the case, I doubt that you will be able to continue to use WEBCON with the 2026 version.

I'm only interpreting this, so I may be wrong.

I'm shocked that there's only a time-limited demo now. I haven't visited the main WebCon website in a long time, not counting this forum. So, what I've been warned about so many times has been confirmed: using low-code or no-code tools and platforms is very dangerous in terms of dependency and arbitrary decisions by the manufacturer, who can change any part of their platform at any time, leaving you with applications that will sooner or later force you to make a costly migration to another solution.

It's actually good that this happened to me at such an early stage (advanced testing). No more low-code platforms. :] I have all backups starting from 2022, but I don't want to work on the old version without security patches. Unfortunately, it was probably only a matter of time before they introduced statistics on WebCon usage in the Freeminium version. I guess there were too many such instances, and someone tightened the screws.

Thanks again for the tip; thanks to you, I won't be banging my head against the wall. I even read the source code for the license activation environment to solve my problem... very interesting, by the way ;]

I confirm. Rolling back to 2025 build 259 does not cause a freemium license issue. Probably the last best/good* version is the one without sending statistics from April 2025, i.e. 2025.1.1.152 :)

And the funniest thing is that there is no information about the licensing change in the 2026 changelog - coincidence?
