Cannot install Webcon App on Android Device
0

We are currently testing a Zebra Android handheld scanner (Model: MC333U-GJ3EG4EU) and would like to install the Webcon app on it. However, when attempting to install the app via the Google Play Store, we receive an error message.

I’ve read that App developers can define which device models are supported in the Play Store, but I can’t understand why this particular scanner is not eligible. The Android version is up to date, and the Webcon app installs without issue on other Zebra models.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have any ideas on what might be causing this?

Hi,

Sure, the device is coming with Android 11 and we upgraded to Android 14. The message we received on the Play store: "This app is incompatible with your device".

Hi,

Thanks for the additional details.

The most likely reason for the issue is that your specific device model (MC333U-GJ3EG4EU) is not certified by Google Play Protect, which can prevent certain apps from being installed via the Play Store — even if the Android version is supported.

I checked the official Play Protect supported devices list, and unfortunately, I couldn’t find this exact model there (though other Zebra devices are listed):
https://storage.googleapis.com/play_public/supported_devices.html

If the device is indeed not certified, you may reach out to Zebra support to ask about Play certification for this model.

I also recommend contacting our support team directly so they can assist you further and explore possible solutions tailored to your environment.

Best regards,
Łukasz
