Changing field label

Hi all!

Maybe this question has already been asked.

Is it possible to change the label of a field without hacking the DOM with Javascript?

I found no built-in function to do this.

We have some different form types using the same field, but it has some slightly different meaning dependent on the form type, so we thought we just change the title of the field.

Any ideas?
