Support for Azure SQL

I requested this too about two years ago at webcon, and I can't remember the official answer, and I can't find it either. Still, it was related to how webcon can connect to different servers to work with other databases. It was something related to the functionality of on-premise SQL servers that cloud SQL as a service didn't have. I would appreciate it if someone from WEBCON would complete my poor explanation.

Azure SQL Database does not support distributed transactions across cloud databases, and that's the main reason why WEBCON BPS does not support installation using Azure SQL Database. (you can not use more than one content DB, you can not use any attachment DB...).

Yes, we know that: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-sql/database/elastic-transactions-overview and yes we (WEBCON) will support installation using Azure SQL DB soon (when the preview version becomes production).

one of our prospects, who is at the point of decision, asked wether official support for Azure SQL will come in early 2022 release.
Can you provide more precise information about the planned release date for Azure SQL support?
I strongly believe that Azure SQL support will become more and more important.

Azure SQL Managed Instance distributed transactions are generally available! You can now run .NET and T-SQL distributed transactions across multiple Managed Instances. We support distributed transactions across Managed Instances in different regions, subscriptions and VNETs.

Maybe there is some testing and adoption necessary on side of WEBCON.
I'm looking forward for more detailed information about general availability for Azure SQL support by WEBCON BPS.

Please remember that Azure SQL Database it is not the same product as Azure SQL Managed instance.

Does WEBCON support Azure SQL managed instances?

It's there:
