This article explains how to enable the analysis functionality in WEBCON BPS Designer Studio 2020. When you edit a step in Designer Studio, you can open the "Analysis" tab to see how long the instances were staying at a given step and how much time was spent editing them.

Thanks to this, it is possible to check whether some employees spend too much time performing a task assigned to them. This will help you identify bottlenecks in your processes and take steps to bring task execution times in line with the expected parameters (e.g. but making the form more intuitive and adding tooltips).

You can also set the expected time for the instance to stay at a given step and the time that can be spend editing it, giving the employees useful information about the deadlines.

You can also search for workflow instances using tags and find them faster.

This article will show you: 1) how to configure the tagging process, 2) an example of its use to tag planned promotions, and 3) the opportunities related to it.

In the WEBCON BPS system, the processed instances move from one workflow step to another. Tasks are assigned in these steps, and users or groups of users assigned to these tasks must perform an action. WEBCON BPS has a comprehensive tool that allows you to choose who the task should go to in the next step; it is configured in the ‘Task assignment’ tab on the path that links two steps.

However, this is not the only way to assign a task to the user. This article discusses how you can use the “Choose an approver” action to assign a task. This action allows for greater flexibility when selecting the approver because you can enable the user to send the task to their direct supervisor or assign it to the approver based on any condition you define. If there is no approver who meets the criteria, there will be an error; it can be handled by displaying an error message to the user or assigning the task to a predefined approver.

This article describes how you can create, delete, and edit individual users in WEBCON BPS, using a standalone installation (one that operates without SharePoint). These features have been introduced with version 2020.1.3 of the program. You can also use BPS groups to manage users.

You can set up a simple workflow for creating, editing, and removing BPS users' accounts as the one shown in this article. If you add to it actions for managing BPS groups, you will create a platform for user administration and facilitate your administrator’s work.

In WEBCON BPS 2021, the form rules have been enhanced with new functions operating on text such as: CONCAT - combines two or more text strings into one text, SPLIT - splits the provided text into parts, according to a specified separator. The function returns strings separated by the semicolons ‘;’ (default separator). If no separator is found in the provided text, the function will result in one line of text, and INDEX OF – searches the provided text and returns the position where the specified string first occurs. Searching will start from the indicated position; the position of the first character is 1.
This article presents the configuration and operation of the above-mentioned functions on the form created for this purpose.

WEBCON BPS 2021 introduces the mechanism of diagnostics and recording the behavior of the form and other elements of WEBCON BPS Portal. This mode is a successor to the old Debug mode which was used to track all modifications that impact the visual layer.

This functionality toggles a diagnostic mode in WEBCON BPS Portal, which registers all invocations on the form, i.e., form rules, JavaScript, editability, visibility restrictions, etc. (see full list below). Diagnostic mode is activated in the user menu by selecting the "Show diagnostics" option. All WEBCON BPS Portal users have access to it.

Thanks to this, finding the cause of an error or incompatibility in a process operation is faster and easier. Any user can record a session and forward it to the administrator. System Administrators and Application Administrators have full access to recorded sessions, which allows them to analyze the problem faster and more conveniently.
