If the organization uses the single-on with ADFS and we want the authentication process in the WEBCON BPS application to be “transparent/invisible?” for users or we want to make the application available to users outside the domain – there is an option to register WEBCON BPS Portal in ADFS and enable such authentication. The user has the ability of selecting the method of authentication. If the Azure Active Directory and WEBCON BPS Auth authentication providers are activated in WEBCON BPS, additional buttons will appear here.

WEBCON BPS applications can be made available in several different languages. Users who use Portal and can select one of them – currently six languages are available: Polish (pl-PL), English (en-US), German (de-DE), French (fr-FR), Italian (it-IT), Russian (ru-RU). There is also the ability to create own translation for language which is not available on the list by using WEBCON BPS Translator at https://bpstranslator.webcon.com. With this method, you can turn off any number of languages and leave only the ones you want your users to select.

The new version of WEBCON BPS mobile application for iOS offers the option of adding attachments. Until now, the files could be supported by adding photos saved in the gallery or loading a photo directly from the camera. The new version allows you to add the files directly from the applications such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and iCloud Drive by using the “Files” application (available from iOS 11). The article below describes how to connect files directly from the One Drive and Google Drive application.

In WEBCON BPS 2020 a new functionality of reporting archived instances has been added. In the report configuration of WEBCON BPS Portal and BPS internal view type source, the option to indicate an archived database as a source for the report has been added. The above functionality gives the opportunity to view the report itself. However, if a user does not have the privilege to any of the archived instances, an empty report will be displayed.

In WEBCON BPS 2020, a new method of creating translations for data values in picker fields has been added. To simplify the process of translation, you can use data source columns. To create a data source for translation, you can use the functionality of dictionary processes. First create a Dictionary Process from the wizard in Designer Studio. By default, the dictionary process has only three form fields – let’s add additional fields for storing various translations: Name PL, Name EN, Name DE.

In WEBCON BPS 2020, it is now possible to display form field in groups horizontally. This option is available only in the MODERN form. To be able to horizontally display the form fields in groups, go to the group configuration and check the “Horizontal arrangement of form fields in group” option. After checking this option, the fields in groups will be displayed horizontally.

WEBCON BPS gives a wide range of possibilities when it comes to assigning tasks. The task for users can be created based on the value of a form field, SQL/CAML query, directly indicating the users/groups or by selecting one of the predefined options. This article describes the predefined options of task assignment. The predefined task assignment allows configuring a business application based only on its logic without having to assign tasks to the specific users/groups. The predefined task assignment options allow you to easily handle many scenarios by simplifying the configuration process. However, remember to make sure that the selected option meets the requirements of the created process.

The WEBCON 2020 version introduces the functionality of coloring reports on the MODERN form. In addition to the ability of coloring cells, you can also add icons, shade cells and create many advanced configurations using the conditional instructions. When editing the report, a new “Style” column appears in the “Views” tab. By clicking the “Pencil” icon next to the selected column of the report, a window with the option of choosing one of four coloring modes is opened: Data bar, Color scale, Conditions and Advanced.

The article describes how to install the ABBYY FineReader 11 component. FineReader is a program for converting scanned documents and PDF files into data on the form. It is a cornerstone of the OCR feature in WEBCON BPS. It is also responsible for generating a text layer on the attachments in workflows. Before starting the installation process, creating a folder called “ABBYY” in the WEBCON BPS installation folder is necessary. When creating large and complex processes, problems with workflows becoming too complicated can often appear, which can be problematic especially for end-users. To check if our process requires reconstruction and simplification, we recommend making an audit of such workflow. A workflow audit in WEBCON BPS allows you to quickly obtain detailed information about the workflows. By generating the report we can check e.g. how many instances have gone through a given path, how many instances have ever been found in a specified step or how many instances have been processed that have a higher ID than specified.
