In workflow instances, there is often a need for people who do not have active tasks at the indicated steps to have appropriate privileges and be able to e.g. view (read privileges) or edit an instance. In such a situation, you can use the action of adding/removing privileges at the level of individual workflow instances. You can find these actions in the “Actions” tab of a given workflow. They are most often used for entering/exiting a step and on transition paths.

WEBCON BPS 2021 introduces the ability to invoke an external tool for editing PDF files directly from the form. Therefore, it is now possible to use a digital signature on a document without having to follow the path on the form. This is a very big facilitation that significantly improves the efficiency of processes. In this article, the functionality is tested on Google Chrome version 88.0.4324.104.

This article describes the process of integration WEBCON BPS with Keycloak. Keycloak is an open source software that enables single sign-on using identity and access management in modern applications and services.

Requirements:
* WEBCON BPS StandAlone (version 2021) – the portal available with the use of SSL by the address in the FQDN format.
* Keycloak Server (the article uses version 12.0.3) - the site available with the use of SSL by the address in the FQDN format.

The model way of implementing the WEBCON BPS system is to work on three types of environments. Processes are configured on the development environment, tests of the created solution are carried out on the test environment, and end-users of the system work on the production environment. Moving processes or changes in processes between environments is possible by using the built-in application import/export mechanism. Starting from version 2021.1.1, the mechanism was extended with transferring the contents of the dictionary processes and workflows for storing document templates. The addition of the ability to transfer data from dictionary processes allows for the improvement of the process of migrating applications between environments

In this example, the new functions will be used in business rules. However, you can use the same functions in your form rules. WEBCON BPS 2021 introduces new functionality of grouping rows of item lists. Now, users can collapse and expand groups and display subtotals when the column has been configured to display totals. This article describes how to configure and use this option on an example of a simple subscription management workflow. The subscription management process contains the “Subscription administrator” and “Financial administrator” form fields, and the item list with the following fields: Client, Product, Payment status, Subscription status, Date of reneval. This article describes the concept of WEBCON BPS Designer Desk and presents how it can be operated to include business users in the design process. The example we use is a simple application for handling incoming correspondence.

The Run an SQL procedure action allows you to invoke SQL procedures from the WEBCON BPS form level, and to prepare the universal SQL queries with variables. This functionality is limited only by the capabilities of the SQL query language. It is possible to invoke SQL procedures using data in the WEBCON BPS form and enter/update data in the database. The correctly configured "Run an SQL procedure" action allows an end-user to access database resources and to edit them without the need to know the SQL language. However, please note that this edition is limited by the action configuration.

Start buttons start a process or workflow in WEBCON BPS. This article shows you how to create and configure them using Designer Studio or Portal. As you can create as many buttons as you need, and every one of them can start a different process or workflow, WEBCON start buttons will streamline your work. What is more, start buttons are imported or exported together with the process they belong to. Thanks to this, you can reuse them, for example, by putting them on your SharePoint site. Another interesting option is adding start buttons to the dashboards of your choice.
